Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actress. Paquin was born in Winnipeg and was raised by Wellington Paquin's acting debut was as Flora McGrath. For this role she received an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in The romantic drama The Piano at the young age of 11. The actress is second youngest recipient in Oscar History. Anna Paquin full name Anna Helene Paquin was born on July 24 the 24th of July, 1982 Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. Canadian-born New Zealand actor who won the Academy Award as a youngster in the category of Best Supporting actress for portraying the bright and curious child of Holly Hunter's lead part on the film The Piano. The actress was chosen to play Flora McGrath the daughter of the muffled Scottish pianist who in the middle of 19th century, moves into New Zealand for an arranged wedding when she answered an audition for open casting; she was nine years old, and had no prior experience in acting. Her move to the United States as a teen. Paquin was chosen to play the role of the child in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre in 1996. She also played an important part as a lead character in Fly Away Home, a movie from the same year. Paquin was in the role of Frankie Addams, a character in Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997 her character was the queen of Spain in a less prominent part. The role she played was for teenagers on Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000) as well as A Walk on the Moon (2000). She played groupie Polexia Aphrodisa in Almost Famous (2000).
